What specifically does the curator team of the Yale University Art Gallery write about this artwork from the naturalist, politician and painter Charles Willson Peale? (© Copyright - Yale University Art Gallery - Artlọ Osisi Mahadum Yale)

Twenty-year-old Walter Stewart immigrated to America from Ireland in 1776 to join the fight for independence, rapidly rising in the ranks of the Continental army. By 1781 he was colonel-in-charge of the Thirteenth and Third Pennsylvania Regiments. Charles Willson Peale captures the jaunty air of “the boy colonel,” who was beloved by his troops and renowned for his bravery. Dressed in uniform with his congressional sword of honor on his hip, Stewart stands in the field with his troops camped in the background. In 1781, the year of his portrait, he married eighteen-year-old Deborah McClenachan, daughter of a wealthy Irish merchant from Philadelphia, and the following year commissioned her portrait from Peale (1991.125.2).

  • Ebipụta akwụkwọ mmado na ihe akwa akwa: A poster is a printed flat canvas with a granular finish on the surface. A poster is particularly designed for putting your art print with the help of a customized frame. Please keep in mind, that depending on the size of the poster we add a white margin 2-6cm around the work of art, which facilitates the framing with your custom frame.
  • Mbipụta kanvas: The printed canvas stretched on a wooden stretcher frame. Furthermore, a canvas creates a nice and positive look. A printed canvas of your favorite work of art will let you turn your customized into a large work of art. How can I hang a canvas on the wall? The great advantage of canvas prints is that they are relatively low in weight, meaning that it is easy and straightforward to hang up the Canvas print without the help of additional wall-mounts. Canvas prints are suited for all types of walls in your house.
  • Aluminom dibond (ọkpụkpụ ọla): Aluminium Dibond prints are prints on metal with an outstanding effect of depth - for a modern impression and non-reflective surface structure. For your Direct Aluminium Dibond option, we print the selected artwork right on the aluminium surface. The bright and white parts of the original work of art shine with a silk gloss but without the glow.
  • Mbipụta enyo acrylic: The acrylic glass print, often named a print on plexiglass, transforms your chosen artwork into amazing décor. Above all, the acrylic print forms a great alternative to dibond and canvas art prints. The work of art is being custom-made with the help of state-of-the-art UV printing technology. With an acrylic glass art print sharp contrasts and artwork details will be visible thanks to the delicate tonal gradation of the print. Our real glass coating protects your chosen fine art print against light and heat for many years.
