Foppa was the founder of Renaissance painting in Milan, where he worked for the dukes. In addition to major fresco cycles and altarpieces, he also painted touching images of the Madonna and Child for private devotion. This one dates to about 1480 and shows the Madonna and Child before a rose hedge—the Madonna was sometimes referred to as the "rose without thorns" (i.e., without sin). The finely drawn hands and gray flesh tones are typical of Foppa’s work, as is the delicate modeling with gold.

Ederede iwu: We try our utmost to describe the products with as many details as possible and to exhibit them visually on the various product detail pages. Nonetheless, the tone of the print materials and the printing might vary slightly from the representation on the screen. Depending on your settings of your screen and the quality of the surface, not all color pigments are printed one hundret percent realistically. Given that all the art prints are processed and printed by hand, there might as well be slight deviations in the motif's size and exact position.
