This painting represents a gallant scene in a surreal landscape with a colonnade on the left and the houses in the background. Three groups of characters are represented there. On the left, next to a dog, a woman sitting back with a little girl resting on his knees, facing a turbaned servant who submits a basket. In the center, a musician plays the mandolin for five seated figures who converse or read. On the right, a woman who holds a fan, walks next to a dog. A man and a child are standing behind it.

Following his teacher Watteau, Pater represented almost exclusively romantic scenes, a term used in the 18th century to refer to scenes of everyday life beautified and transformed by the introduction of costumes and props from the theater. The influence of the theater is evident here: the unreal landscape, painted in a light smear, looks like a decor with its architecture convention and distant blue; the characters have stereotypical attitudes; right, walkers seem to come backstage.

  • Metal (aluminium debond mbipụta): Aluminium Dibond prints are metal prints with a true depth. Its non-reflective surface structure make a contemporary look. The colors of the print are luminous and bright, the details are clear and crisp, and there’s a matte look that you can literally feel. This print on aluminium is the most popular entry-level product and is a modern way to display art reproductions, as it puts 100% of the viewer’s attention on the whole artwork.
  • Mbipụta kanvas: The canvas print, which should not be mistaken with a painting on a canvas, is an image printed on an industrial printing machine. The advantage of canvas prints is that they are relatively low in weight, which implies that it is quite simple to hang the Canvas print without extra wall-mounts. Canvas prints are suitable for all kinds of walls.
  • Poster (akwa akwa akwa): The poster print is a UV printed flat canvas paper with a slightly roughened texture on the surface, which resembles the actual version of the masterpiece. The printed poster is used for putting the art print using a special frame. Please note, that depending on the absolute size of the poster we add a white margin between 2-6 cm around the print in order to facilitate the framing with your custom frame.
  • Mbipụta enyo acrylic: The print on acrylic glass, often labelled as a fine art print on plexiglass, transforms the artwork into beautiful wall décor.
